The Blairsville Jaycees have been in existance for more than 41 years. For the
last 40 of those years, the Blairsville Jaycees have sponsored the annual and
popular Blairsville Sorghum Festival, dedicated to retaining and sharing the old
art of sorghum syrup making, and have called Fort Sorghum their home.
This past year marked a new milestone in moving the Sorghum Festival to Meeks Park, a
fantastic space set aside for county functions and recreation surrounded by the
beauty of Blairsville and Union County with its mountains and streams. Once
farmland owned by Bill Meeks, this land has been set aside to remind future
generations of the beauty of this area. Ample parking, open fields, and stage
facilities make this park ideal for for hosting the historic Blairsville Jaycees
Sorghum Festival.
With the proceeds from the Sorghum Festival and other smaller fundraising
activities, the Blairsville Jaycees support and participate in numerous
community projects designed to help our citizens. Your generous contributions
help the Blarsville Jaycees achieve its goals and puts money directly back into
the community while keeping our heritage alive.
